ABOUT CHAY

Hello! I’m Chay (pronounced SH-ay), a native New Yorker now living in the Pennsylvania countryside, home cook, wife, and mother of two young adult daughters.

My health journey began almost 20 years ago, after the birth of our second child. Following a string of confusing doctor visits, I was diagnosed with multiple autoimmune conditions, digestive issues, and later Lyme disease. Determined to reclaim my health naturally, I turned to functional medicine, lifestyle shifts, and the undeniable power of nutrition.

Over time, my diet transformed, but my love for cooking and sharing meals never changed. I learned how to adapt traditional recipes to meet my own dietary needs without sacrificing flavor, comfort, or the joy of eating together.

I created The Kitchen Commune to help modern home cooks, parents, and hosts bring everyday eating into their lives with more ease and to show that it is possible to create meals that are healthy, approachable, and inclusive of all dietary needs. Whether it is a weeknight dinner or a special gathering, my goal is to help you cook in a way that nourishes everyone at your table.
